Romsey Market Town
This small yet delightful town is just 1 mile away from Ranvilles. It lies on the beautiful River Test which is extremely famous for fly fishing for trout, and winds it’s way through the town and the estate of Broadlands.
Home to a large Norman Abbey which dominates the landscape, Romsey is soaked in character. A favourite stop for King John whilst hunting in the New Forest, you are able to visit his restored hunting lodge to get a glimpse of the amazing medieval history that weaves through this town.
With a strong sense of community within this Hampshire town, Romsey often buzzes with local events such at the Romsey Show, Beggars Fair, the Mayor’s Picnic and of course the Carnivals. There’s never a month that passes that there’s not something to see or do here.
Romsey is also commissioning a statue of a War Horse in the towns’ memorial park which will form at tribute to an overlooked contribution to the first world war made in Romsey by the many horses and mules which passed through the remount camp.
